NNC7, RTI to feature health, nutrition and Family Planning in NutriSkwela Stations

CEBU CITY -- The National Nutrition Council (NNC)-Region VII and the Research Triangle Institute (RTI) International Philippines inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on January 5, 2024 to  feature health, nutrition, Family Planning (FP) and Social Behavior Change (SBC) materials for airing in three NutriSkwela Community radio stations in Central Visayas, namely: Radyo Kahimsug- Barili, Cebu;  Radyo Kaigsoonan -Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental and Radyo Kalamposan-San Francisco, Camotes, Cebu.

Mission said, NutriSkwela Community Radio Network is a strategy of the NNC to address hunger and malnutrition using radio as the channel to provide correct, current, and relevant information on nutrition, health, and development in far-flung areas of the country.

The collaboration with RTI aims to not only widen the dissemination of information on family planning, it also provides families with a better chance to care for each member, their nutrition included, Mission added.

The MOU provides an agreement that both parties collaborate in the airing of materials on Family Planning (FP) Social Behavior Change (SBC) developed by RTI with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The MOU was signed at the Department of Health Central Visayas Center of Health and Development (DOH CV CHD) with NNC7- Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Dr. Parolita Mission; DOH CV CHD Regional Director and RNC Chair Dr. Jaime Bernadas; USAID’s ReachHealth Project Chief of Party Dr. Laurentu Stan and CPD7 Regional Director and RNC member Atty.
